Gross
Put youself in the middle-aged couple's shoes and see whether they thought they may not make it home at the end of their wedding feast.
If you take such a risky job, accept the risk - don't be a coward.

As a former police officer I have to comment. Yes, you have rights and should never have them intentionally violated. Asking an office questions about why he has engaged you is appropriate. Voicing your "opinion" is appropriate. "Arguing" in a loud boisterous manner may not. Anyway, cops just want a little civil behavior when dealing with citizens. And remember, some of the cop's behavior that seems excessive is a safety issue. Let me explain. I was working midnight shift years ago...it was the early 80's. I was driving along a straight stretch of county road that intersects a state highway, it was near 3:00am. I saw headlights of a vehicle turning onto the CR from the State Hwy. As the other vehicle approached my radar picked it up. The speed was approaching 60 in a 40 zone. I initiated the traffic stop and the car turned off the main CR onto a side road and stopped in a much darker wooded area. I lit it up with every spotlight I had and approached with flashlight in my left had and right hand on my gun, holstered but unsnapped with my hand on the grip. The first words spoken were by the other driver. He said something to the effect, "Being a little excessive there aren't you with all those damn spotlights and your hand on the gun". I told him that it might seem excessive but until I knew who he was, what he was up to and was no immediate threat that's the way it would be. I explained that I had very definite plans to go home at the end of my shift. Turned out it was a couple in their 50's on the way home from their daughter's home in another community. Put yourself in the officer's shoes. They don't know who or what the are dealing with. Much of what seems excessive is a matter of safety. By the way, I wrote a warning.
Excellent post. I too see much more wrong with the way people are being herded into two camps, than the issues at hand. Centrist attitudes are the only sane option for either party.
I being on your left glady extend a hand to your type of thinking.
